Initiations are thresholds.

Across cultures and throughout time, women were never meant to cross life’s great transitions alone. Menarche, marriage, motherhood, partnership renewal, menopause, elderhood, grief, and conscious dying — each marks a profound shift in identity, responsibility, and power. When these moments are rushed or left unmarked, something in the psyche remains unacknowledged. When they are witnessed with intention, ritual, and community, they become initiations.

As anthropologist Arnold van Gennep observed, every meaningful transition follows a sacred pattern: separation, threshold, and return. Ceremony creates a container for that threshold space — the in-between — where transformation happens. It allows the body to register change, the heart to soften, and the soul to step forward with clarity.

For women especially, initiation has always been intergenerational. We awaken into ourselves in the presence of other women — mothers, grandmothers, mentors, daughters, sisters. When a young woman is blessed at menarche, when a couple is joined in sacred union, when vows are renewed after decades of devotion, when an elder is crowned in her wisdom, we are strengthening the web between generations.

We are saying: You belong. Your becoming matters. Your love is holy.

As a ceremonialist and spiritual midwife, I guide weddings, partnership ceremonies, baby blessings, menarche initiations, menopause rituals, elder blessings, and end-of-life vigils. Each ceremony is crafted in deep listening; honoring our lineage, your values, your story, and the sacredness of the moment you are crossing.

Because when we consciously mark life’s thresholds, we do more than celebrate an event, we anchor transformation in the body, in the family, and in the lineage.
